Elegant French Chateau Elopement
Katie and Andy eloped to the beautiful Pavillon du Barry in France from their home in Australia for their destination wedding last June. With all their family living in the UK and the two of them in Australia, they figured Paris would be the perfect meeting place. The venue Katie and Andy chose was a lovely combination of intimate and glamorous style. And I was really happy to be chosen as their Paris Wedding Photographer.
“We are both British, but we lived in Perth, Australia for over six years. When we were deciding on a location for our wedding we could not think of a better place than the city of love itself, Paris. We always knew we wanted a destination wedding and we both love fashion and architecture so a Parisian wedding suited us perfectly. With us living in Australia and all our family living in the UK, Paris was the perfect meeting place for our wedding and long overdue family reunion (we had not seen family in five years). The venue we chose is a jewel of French architecture of the XVIII century. In the heart of a 4.6 hectare park overlooking the Seine, this Pavilion was designed by the architect Claude-Nicolas Ledoux and built under Louis XV, for his mistress, the countess of Barry. At the same time intimate and royal, it seems to be the perfect location for a wedding in France. Daria - our photographer -managed to capture the special moments of our day in such a natural yet elegant manner, exactly as we were hoping. She nailed it with the dreamy, pastel look we were going for and she knew all the hidden gems of Paris for great photo opportunities. She encapsulated the charm of Paris perfectly and each photo is a reminder of how beautiful our wedding day was.
The colour theme for our wedding was pastels, blending blush pink with powder blue. Our style is one of classic understated elegance and we opted to add our own modern twist to this for our wedding day. We did not want to go down the traditional route of tuxedos and tiaras but instead wanted the beautiful backdrop of Pavillon du Barry and Paris itself to be the standout. I chose a simple white sweetheart neckline fitted fishtail dress, leaving the hair and makeup to do the talking. Andy took a modern take to the groom’s look with tailored white trousers and a fitted pastel blue shirt. The look was classic, sophisticated and relaxed at the same time. A wedding to us is about the vows, love and family. We chose to keep our day very intimate and simple sharing the moment with those we love most - our immediate family. The day was exactly that, beautiful memories, shared with beautiful people with the most beautiful of backdrops. Our favourite moment was our first dance after the ceremony. We felt so happy surrounded by our most beloved people. ”
