Chateau de Vitry-la-Ville wedding
As a destination wedding photographer, I have the privilege of documenting love stories around the world - but this three-day Indian-American wedding at Château de Vitry-la-Ville was truly exceptional.
Set in the heart of the French countryside, the château offered everything the couple looked for: historic architecture, manicured gardens, reflective water features, and soft Champagne light that feels almost cinematic. From the moment guests arrived, it was clear this would be more than a wedding - it was a fully curated, fun experience for all the guests.
Since there were many events, the couple went with a general theme of “A summer in nature”. They wanted to incorporate a lot of different colour scheme and florals. Each event had its own colour scheme. The Haldi on Thursday had orange / yellow colour palette, the Mehendi had a Green palette. The Indian Ceremony had a purple/ pink colour palette, while the French ceremony had a blue / white palette, and the reception was a mix of all the colour palettes from the previous events and was the culmination of a summer in nature.
The couple transformed the château grounds into a lively cultural oasis, blending Indian tradition with French elegance.
Day One - Haldi Ceremony & Mehendi Celebration
The weekend began with a vibrant Mehendi celebration layered in rich colour and texture. As a photographer, these are the moments I live for - intricate henna artistry, bold textiles, emotional reunions, and spontaneous laughter.
Day Two - Traditional South Indian Ceremony
On the second day, the couple honoured bride's Indian heritage with a colourful, heartfelt ceremony in the château’s gardens. A bespoke mandapa -adorned with fresh florals and fine textiles - framed the couple as they exchanged vows beneath the open sky. Elegant silk saris, embroidered sherwanis, and jewels glowed amid the château’s historic stone and manicured lawns. Photographing this fusion of cultures was inspiring. The groom’s baraat procession was full of movement and joy, while the ceremony itself carried profound intimacy. The sacred rituals, vibrant attire, and emotional family moments created a visual narrative that unfolded organically. Some key moments included the tying of the necklace, placing a toe ring on the bride's toe, walking around the sacred fire together, taking 7 steps together which is traditional version of wedding vows, looking up at the stars representing a perfect couple and playing a ring game.
Day Three - Elegant Western Ceremony and Reception
The bride changed into a modern white gown, and the atmosphere shifted into effortless European sophistication. In the evening, champagne flowed, speeches moved guests to tears, and the dance floor came alive under soft architectural lighting.
Luxury destination weddings are not just about beautiful locations - they’re about storytelling across days, cultures, and emotions. This weekend at Château de Vitry-la-Ville was exactly that: layered, vibrant, refined and unforgettable.
If you are planning a high-end destination wedding in France or anywhere in Europe, I approach each celebration with an editorial eye, cultural sensitivity, and a focus on capturing moments that feel both intimate and iconic.
