Romantic Champagne Dusty Blue Wedding at Chateau de Mairy

Romantic Elegance in the Champagne Countryside

Set in the heart of France’s Champagne countryside, the Château de Mairy welcomed a wedding that felt like a dreamy escape from time. This 17th-century château - a classified historical monument surrounded by ten hectares of gardens, woodland and tranquil lawns - provided a backdrop of timeless grace and quiet grandeur.

Bathed in soft light and styled in a refined dusty-blue palette, the décor was a seamless blend of sophistication and subtle charm. Gentle hues, delicate linens and floral arrangements echoed the gentle beauty of the estate’s natural surroundings. The result was an ambiance both romantic and serene - a perfect harmony between the château’s historic architecture and the couple’s personal vision. The overall theme of the wedding is the romantic intimacy of the whole day. Everything from how the perfect venue was found at first glance at a picture to the small number of guests, it is all a reflection of the closeness of Sam and Molly and of them to the people in their lives. Every guest is a special and significant person for them.

Both Molly and Sam have a love of vintage furniture/items, and Molly in particular likes to surround herself with things that have a story and past outside of her time with them. So it's no surprise they chose an elegant château with a lot of vintage elements - Chateau de Mairy in the Champagne region. The couple had to postpone their destination wedding in France for over a year due to COVID, but the day was perfectly planned and coordinated by Jennifer Blume from The Styled Soiree. All the guests and vendors could enjoy the most amazing regional food from a private chef and could explore Champagne region.

The overall colour palette and mood of the wedding were romantic: muted and blush colours, dusty blue, antique gold and silver. The father of the bride did a custom drawing of the chateau, which was perfectly incorporated by Beautifully Noted into the wedding day stationary and invitations. Molly also brought a larger format of that painting in colour which was displayed at the wedding.

The bride and her mother are very close, so it was an obvious choice for the bride to get ready with her mum. Her makeup and hair artist - Fanny Wong - made her look and feel beautiful, but also brought a sense of calm to the entire day. The bride had some of her grandmother’s old jewellry and makeup compacts as well as groom’s grandmother’s pearls that we incorporated into the flatlay styling. She also carried her grandmother’s beaded clutch purse on the wedding day. The chateau balcony was decorated with loose flowers by Pauline from Histoires Sauvages and became a perfect backdrop for bridal boudoir photos and later in the day - couple portraits.  She also created the most charming bridal bouquet, decorated the ceremony in an ancient chapel and worked together with Jennifer on bringing the bride's "feasting table" vision to life for the reception with a mix of fresh fruits, flowers and blue with a touch of gold tableware.

Both Sam and Molly agreed that seeing each other at the wedding aisle was the most anticipated moment of the day. The ceremony, intimate and heartfelt, unfolded in the château’s private chapel. They were also looking forward to taking beautiful wedding photos together. Molly was immediately drawn to the light, soft, romantic nature of Daria's photography. She also loves the editorial style more than any other, that's why Daria Lorman was the perfect photographer for their wedding.

This was more than a wedding - it was a celebration of love and connection, steeped in history, elegance, and authentic emotion. The Château de Mairy, with its heritage charm and pastoral grace, served not just as a venue, but as a storyteller - framing moments of tenderness, joy and romance in a place where time seems to slow, and beauty stands still.

Love story & proposal of the couple:

"We actually met at a wedding! He knew the groom and I the bride. I noticed him the minute he arrived at the venue, and we ended up exchanging looks throughout the entire ceremony. It was one of those instantaneous chemistry things. We did not find each other until the very end of the reception, and he asked if I was going to the after party. We spend the entire rest of the evening talking, and he asked for my phone number at the end of the evening. The next morning I woke up to a text message of him asking me on a date that following weekend.

Sam proposed to me at the top of a mountain after a significantly strenuous hike on one of our weekend excursions. We crested the hill, and I was immediately awestruck because there was a little field with a bunch of white butterflies everywhere. I turned around to express my excitement and awe to him, and he was on his knee with a ring. I immediately burst into tears and completely blacked out. I have no idea what he even said to me, but I was so incredibly happy. Now we get to tell everyone that he proposed to me amidst a field of butterflies!

We both love cooking, music, reading, traveling, and the outdoors. Our ideal date night is making a gourmet meal with wine and good music playing in the background. We do a lot of camping/hiking/canoeing in our free time and both always have books by our bedside."
